Scott’s Story

I grew up believing that education matters most when you apply it to serve people. That’s why I studied Business Finance, earned a Law Degree, and completed doctoral work in Organizational Leadership, and became a Certified Master Business Coach with the Brian Tracy group. But the real test of all that learning came right here at home – in Blackfoot.

As President of First American Title, I helped grow a single Blackfoot office into 30+ offices across 3 states with 400+ employees. I built the HR department from the ground up, closed real-estate transactions, and reviewed or completed thousands of contracts – as company counsel and as independent counsel. Those experiences taught me how to hire well, steward budgets, streamline operations, and deliver results.

For years I’ve served on Blackfoot’s Planning & Zoning – now as Chair. I’ve see good ideas go sideways when no one asks the right questions. Education without application is the difference between immediate success and maybe success – or failure – down the road. In city government, that means ordinances must be clear, enforceable, and free of unintended consequences.

I am running for Mayor to bring practical leadership – rooted in faith, family, and common sense – to a growing Blackfoot.

  • Created and managed an HR department focused on hiring, training, and culture.

  • Closed real-estate transactions and handled thousands of contracts as an attorney.

  • Years of Planning & Zoning experience; current Chair guiding smart growth.

  • Who benefits, who pays, and when?

  • Is the ordinance clear, enforceable, and affordable?

  • What are the unintended consequences in 1. 3. and 5 years?

  • Does it align with our comprehensive plan and infrastructure capacity?

  • Have we listened to neighbors, businesses, churches, and first responders?

  • Can we measure results – and sunset or fix it if it’s not working?

  • Is this a partisan campaign?

No. The Mayor’s race is non-partisan. My focus is local: safety, infrastructure, and families.

  • What’s your approach to taxes and spending?

Guard every dollar, seek grants before local increases, and publish simple dashboards so you can see where your funds go.

  • How will you handle growth?

Use Planning & Zoning experience to fit growth to infrastructure, protect neighborhoods, and streamline fair clear standards.

  • How can I share a concern?

Come to coffee chats, town halls, or message the campaign anytime. I’ll post replies and next steps publicly.
